  1. This article saved us. We have been smelling that fish smell for two days. We searched the house, refrigerator, etc. for something rotting and found nothing. We had given up when I decided to look on the internet. After reading this article, my husband found that the outlet our tv was plugged into was melting and beginning to brown and the wall around it was extremely hot and starting to discolor. This article saved us from a house fire.

  2. Snap!!! It’s been smelling similar in our dining room I identified it as coming out the walls near our tele…..thank God I read this!!!

I wish that Suzy Cohen would address what is causing so many to have liver problems. Is it toxins in our food from the MSG, high fructose corn sweeteners, aspartame and other artificial sweeteners and processed food(i.e. anything that is not in it’s original form…..you know it comes to us in a box or some kind of packaged item)? Fruit and produce aren’t processed, obviously, nor eggs and such.

Some individuals cannot metabolize foods containing large amounts of choline such as eggs, fish, liver, and legumes, due to their body chemistry. The result is a “fishy” smell that can be quite offensive.

Too little fiber can make you constipated which can affect your overall body odor. In cases of severe constipation, toxins released by the digestive system may seep through the pores, giving you what’s known as “fecal body odor.”

Magnesium may be the most overlooked mineral in our diets, yet this powerhouse vitamin, is integral for everything from energy to memory. It can even help eliminate excess body odor .if [the patients’] diets contain nothing particularly toxic, [the magnesium supplement] deodorizes them. Their fecal matter loses all of its disagreeable odor. That can be due only to a modification of the intestinal flora.” Dark chocolate packed with magnesium can help you smell sweeter as can these other great sources: bran, dried corriender, raw nuts like almonds and cashews, flax, sesame seeds, and sesame butter (tahini).

Urinary tract infections – one of the first signs of a UTI is a “strong ammonia” or even “slightly sweet” odor. Your urine will likely smell off, but the infection can become so concentrated—especially if you are trying not to pee because it hurts—that the ammonia smell can come out of your pores as well.

Words cannot express how thankful I am for this website. I began smelling the horrid fish smell several days ago, my husband and I were having a hard time breathing, burning eyes, nausea etc, finally tonight I smelt the fish smell again in our room and I was so sure that it was a dead mouse in the attic. My husband told me to leave it for the morning but I couldn’t drop this smell, I started searching and came to this; I immediately started searching my outlets and sure enough, an outlet behind our chair was MELTING and SPARKING. Who knows what could have happened if I hadn’t found this, I would have never known that this is where the smell was coming from. The more you know…
