GRASS, WEEDS, TREES, OVERGROWTH, CLIPPINGS

Yard/Lot Maintenance standards are the responsibility of every property owner/resident and include the maintenance of plant material in any right-of-way abutting the property.

 

GRASS OVER  TWELVE  (12) INCHES IN HEIGHT OR HAS RODENTS OR VERMIN

  • Grass type ground cover and all vegetation at any state of maturity cannot be over 12 inches in height. (If it is growing down over the curb & into the street it is most likely over 12 inches long.)  Exceed twelve (12) inches in height, or
  • Weeds  and other rank growths, including but not limited to, poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac must be removed. Regardless of height, if the weeds or rank growths harbor, conceal, or invites deposits or accumulation of refuse or trash;Harbors rodents or vermin;Gives off unpleasant or noxious odors;Is dead or diseased;

A written notice to be served upon the person or entity who maintains, operates or permits a nuisance.Written notice shall be given to the owner* of the property  ordering the property owner to abate the nuisance and shall further state that unless such abatement is performed within ten (10) business days of the date on the notice, the work shall be done by the City of Tulsa and a notice of lien shall be filed with the County Clerk against the property for the costs due and owing the City of Tulsa.  (*the owner as shown by the most current tax rolls.)  ABATEMENT 

See also  210: Any subsequent accumulations of trash or excessive weed or grass growth on the property occurring within a six (6) month period constitutes a public nuisance and may be summarily abated without further prior notice to the property owner.

All trees, hedges, signs or other obstructions,  located within a sight-distance triangle which prevent persons driving vehicles approaching an intersection of streets from having a clear view of traffic approaching such intersection.   Title 24  103. A

GRASS CLIPPINGS LEFT IN THE STREET, after mowing or edging, can obstruct flow or otherwise interfere in the stormwater drainage system which carries storm water to local waterways clippings may contain chemicals from pesticides, fertilizers,  yard waste, sediment and pet waste which wash into storm drains and are carried into  waterways through stormwater runoff, polluting water in local streams that flow to the river or creeks. To keep pollutants from our drinking water, the water flowing into the storm drains must be free of contaminants. Dept of Environmental Quality (DEQ) monitors what drains into creeks as Tulsa’s storm drainage system carries storm water to our local waterways. Title 24, Chapter 101 A2 and B12 and B18 . Criminal Penalty
