Gold Star Family– Members are the parents, spouse, children, or siblings of one who died or was killed in war while serving in the armed forces.
The United States began observing Gold Star Mothers Day in September of 1936. Today we celebrate the last Sunday of September as Gold Star Mother’s and Families’ Day.
In Oklahoma, unlike many other states, special “Gold Star”car license plates are only available to the parents or surviving spouse of the service persons killed in action.
The Oklaoma Tax Commission Motor Vehicle Division, Accounting Section at 405/522-0093, advised that it would require the legislature in order to get a Gold Star automobile license tag to honor the sacrifice of the children and siblings..
The car tag cost is about $14, which is nominal, but would mean so much to those who loved them and would like to honor them.
